German Excursion

German students from VCE, Year 10 and Year 8 Accelerated enjoyed a fantastisch German Day Out in the city on 2nd August. Students watched an entertaining German film ‘Mara and the Fire Bringer’ at ACMI in Federation Square. The film focused on a teenage girl whose visions led her back in time to a mythical world of Germanic legends where she and a likeable but daggy university teacher have to save the world from a giant dragon. The film featured many famous landmarks in Munich and language-wise was aimed at German language learners.

From Federation Square, students then made their way through the city to Hofbrauhaus, a traditional German restaurant in Market Lane off Bourke St. Students enjoyed Schnitzel and Wurst and other German delicacies served up by waitresses in traditional costumes in rustic Bavarian surroundings. It was a fun day for students wanting to continue learning German and we can’t wait to do it again next year.
