Term 3 VCD - Overview

This term has flown by with various tasks underway across Year 8 to Year 12 VCD. Currently the Year 8’s are completing their one point perspective drawings, while the Year 10’s are learning to use set squares to create isometric drawings. The Year 11’s are exploring the world of Typography and learning about its history across different cultures and times. Working hard on their folios, the Year 12’s are almost finished and looking to get organised for their pitch presentations.

Diversity Week

This term the Year 8’s helped celebrate Diversity week by creating pieces based on the topic of diversity and stereotypes.

In one of the activities we challenged stereotypes about ourselves by writing out what “I AM NOT” and what “I AM”. We then placed every students words on two big poster pieces of paper. We discussed stereotypes and about how we should not make assumptions about other people.  Pictured are a few examples of what students have written.

Additionally as part of Diversity week, the Year 8 students created collages using magazines to highlight the diverse range of people in society and to communicate that “We are One”.

Year 12 Folios

For the past five weeks the Year 12 students have been staying back on Tuesdays until 6:45pm working extremely hard on completing their folios and their final presentations. Food and drinks have been provided to fuel students to success. I would also like to thank the parents and siblings who picked up the students from school on these late occasions.

Daily Quote

As part of my teaching pedagogy I write a daily quote on the white board and so I would like to end this post with one:

“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see”

 – Edgar Degas
