From the Principal Class Team

Curriculum Day, 12 August 2016
On Friday 12 August , all staff at the college will further develop and implement a guaranteed and viable curriculum program, based on the Victorian Curriculum standards and the VCAA Study Design.
Staff will work in Professional Learning Teams, which fosters a school culture of collegiate collaboration, for the development of effective teaching practices and a positive and supportive learning environment for all students.
There will be no classes held on this day.
Farewell...
At the end of this term, we will farewell Mr Matthew Harris. Matt and his wife, Roberta, are moving to Mumbai to teach in an International School for three years. Matt has taught Mathematics here for 18 months, and has also participated in MAC as a member of the band. We thank Matt for all he has given to his students during his time here, & wish him, Roberta, and little Vito all the best for their adventure in India. Matt will be replaced by Karmin Mauree.
Compass
We would like to inform all parents and students, that as of the beginning of Term 3, we will have moved from our current parent portal to a new platform, Compass. Families will soon receive a letter outlining log in details, as well as instructions and information about what Compass offers. Students can log into Compass using their current username and password. We will be gradually implementing more and more features in the coming months. Further information will provided in coming newsletters. If you have any questions about the transition to Compass please contact Stella Hunter in the General Office.
Semester Reports
Teachers are in the process of finalising assessments and completing semester 1 reports. Year level co-ordinators will conduct interviews with students where progress is a concern. In some cases there might also be an interview with parents or guardians. As in the past, reports will be available electronically. However, at the moment the college is in the process of moving from the Xuno platform to Compass. You will be provided with separate information about how to access the parent portal in Compass. Semester reports will be available via the parent portal on Compass on Saturday 25 June, when we officially move across to the Compass platform.
MAC Production
This year’s MAC production is only a few weeks away. Under the direction of Ms Janet McKenzie, musical direction of Mr James Orchard and artistic direction of Mr Nick D’Aglas, actors, musicians, dancers and set builders have been busy rehearsing, designing, and constructing to take us back to the legendary, story-telling days of ancient China with an action-packed stage adaptation of Disney’s Mulan. Mulan is a heart-warming celebration of culture, honour and a fighting spirit. The score includes favourites like “Reflection,” and “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” as well as new songs that will have our audience singing all the way home.
We warmly invite all members of our community to join us for a performance of Mulan from Tuesday 2nd August to Thursday 4 August at 7.30pm in the Performing Arts Centre.
Tickets are available on Monday 11th July at lunchtime and also from the general office.
