Parents and students may have noticed extra staff at the front of the school each morning, or may have had additional phone contact over the last term. These initiatives are part of a suite of strategies focusing on increasing full day attendance at school, and they are working! Congratulations to all of the students who have improved their attendance.
The ideas and statistics on the right were published by the Queensland Department of Education. Opportunities for parents to attend school events are limited at the moment, but parents being involved in their child’s education and promoting regular school attendance supports their learning.
Planning for Year 7 2021 continues. The optional High Potential and Gifted Education Placement Test had to be rescheduled due to Department of Education COVID-19 guidelines and will now be held in the school gym on 12 November, 3:30-4:30pm. A letter with these details has been sent to parents of 2021 Year 7 students.
If you have a child making the transition to high school at the end of this year, and they have any of these or other concerns, reassure them that all staff are looking forward to assisting them in their transition and supporting them in their learning at high school.
