Whitlam Institute Writing Competition

2020 has been a year like no other. The way education was taught changed overnight.

Students’ ‘traditional’ learning environment no longer had 30 tables and chairs but rather their home dining tables and bedrooms. Although we could not hear the students' voices in the classroom,  we could defiantly still hear it in their writing.

This year, three students were invited by Ms Kulevski to take part in the Whitlam Institute Writing Competition.  A nation-wide writing competition that was open to all school students from kindergarten to Year 12 across Australia. Inspired by Gough Whitlam’s commitment to involving young people in global issues, students wrote about an array of topics including; the environment, equality, racism and media.

Students selected to represent Cecil Hills High School were:

  • Alan Tong,  Year 12
  • Iara Barranque, Year 12
  • Zena Rasol, Year 11

Students received recognition awards from Western Sydney University. Our students were ecstatic when they found out that their work was recognised by the University.

Cecil Hills High School is pleased to have such a diverse group of students represent our school in academia. It is an absolute pleasure for Cecil Hills High School to be recognised nation-wide for our students’ writing achievements.
