Graduation

As has been mentioned, the Year 12 Graduation was an outstanding success and I’m sure a memorable occasion for all students, families and College staff. We would sincerely like to congratulate all of the students involved. The teaching staff all agree that it has been a real pleasure teaching this cohort of students over the last three years and we look forward to hearing about the next chapters of their stories as they move on.

A special thank you to Sally Panizza Director for Agricultural Education, Rick Wilson MP Member for O’Conner and other guests who presented prizes to our well deserving recipients. These students consistently demonstrated outstanding efforts, progress and abilities during their time here in both the practical and/or academic areas.

Year 12 ATAR Exams

Many of our students completed external ATAR examinations for Animal Production Systems, Plant Production Systems, Mathematics Applications, Biology and English in early November. The students involved and their teachers spent a great deal of time revising and preparing for these exams over recent weeks. Best wishes to the students involved and thank you to our ATAR teachers for your dedication and hard work over the past 12 months.

Year 10 and 11 Semester Two Reports

The teaching and instructional staff have been busy finalising assessments, subject/course results and generating report comments for our Year 10 and 11 students. Semester Two reports will be emailed home at the end of the school year. I encourage parents with enquires and/or concerns with their child’s report to make contact with the teaching staff via email or telephone at the start of the 2021 school year.

Year 11 ATAR University Camp

Our Year 11 ATAR Students visited the South Metropolitan TAFE in Fremantle, the University of W.A, Notre Dame University, Curtin University and Murdoch University to investigate post-secondary agricultural (and other) courses on offer. They also actively participated in laboratory/field trial activities – an opportunity to see agricultural science at work.

Students were introduced to the major course areas of Agricultural Business & Marketing, Aquaculture and Animal and Plant Science as delivered at post-secondary level. The benefit of on-site visits allows students to see first-hand the institution they may select to study at and provides a better sense of what the University is like.

Study Tour

Study Tour was a great success which provided Year 10 students with an opportunity to experience the diversity of agriculture that is offered in the Albany and Mount Barker regions as well as participate in non-agricultural activities. Students were able to appreciate David Slade's large scale mixed farming operation, freshly picked strawberries from Len Handasyde Forest Hill strawberry farm and see first hand, Fletcher International abattoir processing lamb and mutton.

Other activities included visiting Ken Ravenhill's rotary dairy, AFGRI machinery, an experience on the Brig Amity and a visit to the Historic Whaling Station and Australian Wildlife Centre at Discovery Bay.  A final day at the beach rounded up the tour.

Thank you to the many industries who received us on the day and who helped to make this study tour such a success. The guided tours were interesting and engaging.
