Our Minibeast Garden Hunt!

This week, the P-2s had a fantastic time exploring the school garden to find many different minibeasts. The preps had lots of fun looking under logs, searching through the grass and digging in the dirt. They saw lots of ants and flies, some woodlice, a bee, a caterpillar, a beetle and even a dragonfly.

Year 3/4

Bluearth

Students in Year 3/4 have been participating in Bluearth Activities most days since returning to onsite learning. These games include lots of running, as well as needing to be strategic. After each activity we stop and consider the changes to our bodies, such as heart beating faster, as well as how these activities make us feel.

Rahim - When we do Bluearth activities it is fun and we get to exercise.

Michael - I like Bluearth, especially the 'Everybody's It' because it is fun, even when you get tagged you can come back into the game when someone else frees me.

Zane - I like Bluearth because it is fun and it is good for you and improving your running and muscles. My favourite game is 'Line Rock Paper Scissors'.

Hansvi - I like doing Bluearth because it has fun activities and you can exercise at the same time.

Inquiry Projects

During Term 3 Remote Learning students were able to choose their own topic and follow the Inquiry Process to Wonder, Question, Research and Present their learnings. Over the last few days we have been enjoying each students presentation. Marie and I would like to congratulate the students on how well they have done Creating and being Self Managing (our learning dispositions) in completing this activity at home. We would also like to thank the parents/guardians/families for helping your child with this work.

Sinchan - I thought the project was fun because we got to learn new things.

Caitlin - I thought the project was good to do and I learnt that you should only put soap or body treatments on your skin.

Amelia - It was really fun to do, because the project involved learning the history and when it was made.

Isabelle - I really enjoyed taking pictures and learning how to make them look better and it was interesting to create a website and insert my pictures on it.

Sheen - It was nerve racking when I was presenting as I had stage fright. But with encouragement and seeing other presentations I had a go and was happy with my efforts.

Music News

It has been great to be back at school and enjoying music together again!

The Prep-Two's have been enjoying different movement & listening games; from marching to show a steady beat, moving using the scarves and also creating dance moves for their friends to copy. The guidelines around children returning to school advises that we are not allowed to sing together for the time being, so we have also been learning a beautiful song in Auslan (which is Australian sign language). The song is called, I can sing a Rainbow.

In the Three/Four level we have been enjoying learning a song in Auslan and also taking part in movement games. We are looking at  picture stories that help tell a musical story and focusing on rhythm activities using boom whackers.

The Five/Six students have been working with partners, incorporating music with design thinking. They have researched and designed musical playgrounds and a musical wall for our yard. They have been very thoughtful in their designs and tried to include recyclable materials where possible. They are also keen to begin a unit on songwriting and creating using tuned instruments in the coming weeks.
