Art and Craft Term Four

It has been a very busy term four in the art room. All students have completed their clay unit and I am now in the process of firing all their clay works. The students enjoyed exploring Australian animals for this unit. The clay works will be painted with acrylic paints.

We then went on to celebrate NAIDOC week by exploring indigenous grass weaving using raffia and lomandra from our school garden. Students made woven disks and wrapped lizards and eels. These woven works were challenging but our students demonstrated our deadly values and persevered through the task.

Mainstream and Steiner students are now working on their textile unit. The craft classes are completing their various knitting and sewing tasks. The preps are making hessian bags and class one are completing their recorder bags. Class 2 are working on their sunray cushions. The 3 and 4 classes are completing their knitting projects. All 5/6 students are working on similar pieces this year. The year 5 students are stitching decorative drawing string bags and the year 6 students are making graduation teddy bears.

The rest of the mainstream students are exploring stitching styles to make various craft items, such as hessian bags for the Foundation to Year classes. The 3/4 students are sewing 3D owls.

I have included some examples of the student works for you to enjoy!
