From the Principal

School Values

I would like to congratulate all students on their start to Term 2. I always provide constant reminders at our school assembly around the modelling of our school values.  I encourage all parents and carers to have ongoing conversations with your child about the ways they have been respectful, resilient or active citizens at school each day. I know first hand being a parent of two boys, that at the end of each day asking them how their day was, not getting much of a response. You might like re-frame the question with:

  1. “How did you demonstrate respect at school today?”
  2. “How did you show that you were resilient at school today?”
  3. “What was one thing you did today to help someone else?”

These types of questions provide clear links to our school values and a positive way to frame their thinking about what is going on for them at school.

Uniform

Continuing with the value of citizenship, we have a clear policy on school uniform. Below is a link to the uniform policy, which I encourage all parents and carers to read.

Uniform Policy Link

As we are now moving into the colder part of the year, I remind all families the importance of all students being in the correct school uniform. Our uniform policy clearly outlines the expectations with school uniform and I appreciate and thankyou for your support with ensuring your child is in the correct uniform each day.

In the School Council News section of this newsletter, you can learn more about new additions to our school uniform item list.

Student  Free Professional Practice Day

Next Friday (12th May) will be a student free day. This year the Department of Education  is providing all teaching staff with two professional practice days. On this day teachers will be involved in reviewing and analysing student assessment tasks. Camp Australia will be available if parents require care for their children.

Mothers Day Stall

I would like to thank our PFC for organising our upcoming Mothers Day stall (on Monday 8th May).

Education Week Open Night

Please put in your diaries our Open Night on Monday 15th May at 5pm. Our classrooms will be open with teams running engaging Maths activities. Our Specialist team will have their rooms and spaces open. The Principal Class Team will be in the library. There will also be a Family Maths Challenge and treasure hunt that everyone can complete.

We look forward to welcoming our community to this event.

2024 Foundation Enrolments

It is hard to believe that we are already in the space of planning for next year. If your child is beginning school next year, please drop into the office at your earliest convenience and speak with our team regarding the enrolment process.

Take care everyone.
