Interview with Jenn Lee

 Prep Teacher

How long have you worked at

BNPS?

I have worked in Prep at BNPS for almost 2 years, and before that I worked as a casual relief teacher at BNPS.

Who inspires you?

My family inspire me. My children show me all sorts of wonderful things and experiences which I am so proud of them for having a go at. My children and my husband respond to situations differently to me and I think we can always learn from others, even people younger than you.

Of course, my parents inspire me too, they have shown me what unconditional love and support looks like, taught me what matters most in life and guided me to live life with gratitude and a positive mindset.

What is your favourite thing to do on weekends?

I love spending time with my family on weekends. I like watching my children play sport, having family movie nights and just spending time together. I also love visiting my own Mum, Dad, siblings, nieces and nephews.

If you could go on a holiday anywhere in the World, where would you go?

This is a tricky one as I am a bit of a home body – but, I would love go somewhere hot and sunny, where I could snorkel and do water sports (having all my food cooked for me would be a welcome bonus too!).

The Maldives, Borneo, or even just sunny Queensland would be lovely. I also love the idea of taking the train through all the beautiful parts of Europe.

Are you an early bird or a night owl?

When my children were babies I was a night owl, but now I think I can be either depending on the day and what’s in store for me.

What might someone be surprised to know about you?

I lived in Belgium for 2 years when I was a child, I went to a French speaking school and became fluent in French. I even used to sleep talk in French.

What recently made you smile?

My Preppies make me smile every day. They are all so caring and, for little people who are still learning about the world around them, they come out with some very insightful comments. Of course, the other Prep teachers always make my days fun, happy and full of smiles too! I am so lucky to work in a school where my students and other staff make me smile every day!

Outside of school, the joy on my niece’s face during her 4th birthday last weekend was magical.

If you could swap places for a day, who would you choose?

I think I would like to experience being a child or teenager for a day. As an adult I think it’s probably easy to take all of our life experience for granted and it would be so interesting to experience all that important learning, for example reading and writing, again.

What would you like to say to the students?

Try not to compare yourself to anyone else, everyone has their own talents (& also everyone has their own struggles) -  you are all unique and amazing! Find happiness in the small things in life, smile, laugh and be kind to one another.

I am so proud of all you have achieved so far in Prep. You have only been at school for a term, but you really have already learnt so much. I would also like to say thank you for being so happy, fun and for making me feel very lucky to be your teacher.
