Reflection
In Praise of Mothers
God of love,
we thank you for the gift of our mothers:
mothers who labour to bring us into this world,
mothers to guide us on life’s journey,
mothers to teach us how to pray to you.
We praise you, God,
for mothers who listen to us and cry with us,
who applaud our progress and laugh with us,
who want the best for us, who dream with us,
who love us always.
We thank you God,
for the gift of mothers. Amen.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY
We look forward to welcoming our mothers, grandmothers and carers to celebrate Mother’s Day this Friday morning, commencing at 9:10 am in our School Gymnasium. We will celebrate by starting with a Liturgy to be followed by refreshments in the Junior School Playground. We have a great number of mums attending, and along with your son, we look forward to paying tribute to our mothers. I look forward to joining our mothers and their sons to celebrate this special occasion.
Blessed Edmund Rice Feast Day
Last Friday we celebrated the Feast Day of Blessed Edmund Rice. We joined together to highlight the legacy that our great founder, Blessed Edmund Rice, has impacted on our world for over 220 years.
At St Pius X College alone, we have been served by 165 Brothers and the hundreds of lay staff, who continue to be the torch bearers of Edmund Rice’s original passion. Now in our 86th year, we continue the Edmund Rice tradition so that our young men continue to be inheritors of these rich traditions.
Year 12
This afternoon, the Year 12 Reports are being issued to acknowledge, reward and provide encouragement for the important studies of our Year 12 students. Our Year 12 students have now reached the halfway mark of their HSC studies and the coming Year 12 Parent/Teacher/Students Interviews, online from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm next Monday 15 May, will provide great feedback and help in the ongoing studies of our Year 12 students.
A reminder that the Year 12 students will be departing from the College at the end of Period 5, (at 2:22 pm) next Monday to enable them to be home in time for their interviews online.
Oxford Falls Parking
I remind all of our community of our requirement to park legally around our Oxford Falls site. Can I particularly highlight that parking on the grass verges in Spicer Road (at the end of Dreadnought Rd), is illegal and is being policed each weekend by the Council Rangers.
Co-curricular Activities
This weekend's winter co-curricular programs kick off on Friday afternoon with the Sydney Schools Chess competition, then moving into the evening with our 12 Debating teams competing in the Catholic Schools Debating Association (CSDA).
Saturday morning begins very early with our Junior School competing in the Independent Primary Schools Heads of Australia (IPSHA) Sports competition. The Senior School quickly join at our excellent facilities at Oxford Falls for the Independent Sporting Association (ISA), along with our Squash Teams playing in the Sydney Schools Squash Competition.
These competitions provide excellent opportunity and well-organised fixtures for our young men to partake in and enjoy. We received high praise from our visitors last week, who were very complimentary of our facilities, the first aid provisions, the hospitality and the spirit in which all matches were played.
It is such an important component of our young men’s holistic development to be involved in team sports and activities. It is a pleasure to be on the sidelines with all our Pius community to maintain and support the many benefits that such activities teach and provide.
Good luck to all for our coming fixtures this weekend.
