Dear Kingswood Community,

The Year Two students have been hard at work during Term One and have only just completed their first piece of art. They have gone through several phases over the past 10 weeks to successfully create their Fruit Still Life.

The background colours were developed by placing small pieces of crepe paper all over the cardboard and then having great fun using a spray bottle filled with water to bleed the colours onto the surface.

Then we focused on skill development - learning how to thread a needle with wool to sew a running stitch and a continuous running stitch around the edge of the cardboard. With this past knowledge on board, we were then able to apply our skills to sew the very same stitches around the fruit and beading the stitch at the same time.

So many challenges, so many mistakes that we learnt how to correct before we moved on, so much support and encouragement we gave each other and sooooo much satisfaction in our achievements.

Absolutely brilliant Year Two students, so much fun watching you develop your sewing confidence!
