Year 7 Camp

A rite of passage

Barbara Moss

Year 7 Level Coordinator

Year 7 students and staff enjoyed a fabulous week at Lady Northcote Recreation Camp (Eynesbury) during the final week of Term 1.

The three-day residential camp includes team-building games and activities to encourage an understanding of the natural environment, develop team work and form connections with their peers and teachers.

Teamwork on the Giant Swing

Camp highlights…

Fin Le Nepveu

… the giant swing because of the exhilaration of when you released yourself and swung - that was my highlight.

Lucy Breese

… was probably the time in the morning or night, with our cabin mates. I liked how we sort of learnt about each other when we were out of school.

Harit Pathik

… the amount of birdlife! This was a surprise, because most other camps did not have any birdlife; I like birds very much.

Olivia Thomas

…  was on the last day when we worked as a group to complete tasks. I enjoyed this because there were lots of different tasks that I was good at, and I could help my team out.

Facing challenges

Callum Martin

...that you should face your fears head-on or you will still be scared; also the thing that you have to overcome might be fun.

Alita Simpson

My biggest fear is birds and when I was on the high ropes, birds kept on coming close to me; I faced this because my teammates were cheering me on.

Evelyn Tamsitt

I overcame the challenge of not having friends in my Activity Group, which I know is on purpose; I think it was for the better because I made loads of friends, more than I made at school.

Rupert Lord

Making new friends. I overcame this by saying, ‘Hi’.

I learned…

Amalia di Falco

… that you can't say you're scared of something before you try it.

Rahil Sarbi Khan

… the importance of teamwork. It can improve our overall understanding of the task we are doing and also help us build strong relationships with the people we are working with – while also learning crucial skills from other group members.

Oscar Watson

… that being with new people helps you make new friends.

Camp School Values Awards

This year we had the inaugural Camp School Values Awards, designed to create awareness and appreciation of the BSC school values. The presentation ceremony ‘went off’ with everyone cheering for the people who had been chosen.

Choosing the Values award winners was not easy as there were many students whose participation stood out in so many ways. A lot of praise to so many Year 7 students who made this camp fun and memorable, with positivity, teamwork and helpfulness.
