PRINCIPAL REPORT

From the College Principal

Dear Parents, Carers and Friends,

As this is the last edition of Highlights for the year, I wanted to pay special tribute, and thanks, to our community for showing the fortitude and resilience it has during this difficult COVID-affected year.

I have written this previously, but I believe it is worth repeating. The teamwork and cooperation which students, staff, and parents exhibited during this year has been exceptional. This has allowed high quality learning to continue throughout the year. As previously mentioned, our academic attainment data for this year indicates that for the large majority of our students, remote learning has had an almost negligible impact on academic progress.

That said, we are very conscious that, particularly for younger students, the social and emotional learning and maturation process seems to have been impacted by the periods of lockdown. I am very thankful to staff for their work in supporting students on their return to school, particularly those younger students who have been impacted in this way.

I would like to pay particular tribute to the Wellbeing team at school. They have, along with the student managers, been incredibly diligent and effective in supporting our students during this difficult year.

So, whilst we go into these holidays with the hope that next year will not be blighted by the impacts of COVID, the new Omnicron variant reminds us that we are living in an uncertain world, and that we need to take the opportunities to engage at school, and in life, when they present themselves to us.

I wish all members of our community a safe, happy, and restful summer holidays. Yours sincerely

Richard Minack

Yours sincerely
