Year 10 Work Experience Program 2022

All Year 10 students will participate in our Work Experience Program and undertake a placement in an industry of their choice. This is a great opportunity to explore possible career options and assist in future course and career decision making. Each Year 10 core group will have a designated week in to undertake a placement. Consideration will be given to specific placement availability at other times during the year.

In previous years many students organise a placement in Swan Hill, but depending on student’s interest and ‘who you know’, students have ventured to other regional centres.

We hope parents will support and encourage their child to take part in this program next year, and maybe even start to discuss this now and consider possible work places.

Accounting Week

The original Accounting Week Work Experience program was meant to be held early in September, but unfortunately was cancelled.  Thankfully it was rescheduled to this week and six of our Year 10 students are currently doing placements at local Accounting firms.  We are very grateful that these firms and Murray Mallee LLEN were able to reorganise dates so this successful program could happen this year.

Year 12 Results

Our Year 12 students will receive their results on Thursday 16th.  We will be available from lunchtime on Thursday until lunchtime on Friday if any student contacts us via email needing assistance.

Current Year 12 students and any Year 11 student studying a Year 12 subject are reminded that their study scores will be available via the Results and ATAR website and the Results and ATAR app.

Change of Preference

Whilst the release of results can provide excitement and clarity, some students will be left with questions about what they will study in 2022.  The ATAR may be lower than expected and options may need to be re-evaluated. Stay focused on your dream course and perhaps consider a diploma or pathway programs, or courses with lower ATARs as a pathway.  Students are able to add, remove or re-order course preferences through their VTAC account until Monday, December 20th.  All Universities have staff available to guide you through this process. Please click here:

Year 12 Tertiary Scholarship

The Tresco & Chisel United Lodge are offering four Tertiary Education Scholarships worth $5,000 to local students intending to study at University in 2022. Applications close on January 7th, 2022.

Engineering Presentation to Year 10 and 11 Students

On November 25th a number of our Year 10 and 11 students attended a very informative LaTrobe University presentation about its Engineering courses. Guest speakers included La Trobe academics Daniel Hook and Eddie Custovic, as well as university student Gwenevere Thompson and Ryan Heil of Heil Engineering Consultants, Swan Hill.  They discussed study and jobs in Engineering and STEM, as well as the brand new La Trobe University Engineering campus for Engineers in Bendigo. It was a great eye opener to the world of Engineering in rural Victoria and it was very well received by our students.

We would like to thank the La Trobe team and Ryan Heil for providing the opportunity for our students to hear firsthand from working Engineers about their career pathway and strong employment options for graduating students.
