EDWARD SCISSORHANDS AT ACMI

All year 7 students attended the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) in May to see the iconic Tim Burton movie Edward Scissorhands, on the big screen. As the film was the next class text, an opportunity to attend ACMI to see the movie was a perfect excursion. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the movie, in fact one teacher was overheard saying, it was the best movie he had seen in a long time!

Students were further engaged by a discussion on the movie facilitated by one of the ACMI Educators. Teachers were most impressed with students’ knowledge of Tim Burton’s filmography. Lunch was spent taking in the city sights from Federation Square or eating an array of food from nearby food outlets. The afternoon was spent visiting Screen Worlds at ACMI and photo opportunities in Hosier Lane. A great day was had by all!

POETRY IN ACTION

On Thursday 12 June the year eight cohort attended a Poetry in Action performance of

Paper Tiger in the Renaissance Theatre. It was a very funny and entertaining performance which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. It was about a zombie apocalypse and two characters had to try and find a way to destroy the zombies, which landed them in some very weird places. In the end with the help of some very quirky characters they defeated the Paper Tiger who was creating the zombies and everyone returned to normal. We all learned a little bit more about poetry and how much fun it can be. A big thank you to all the teachers who organised this performance.
