A GREAT DAY

Outcome 2 of Unit 1 in Business Management requires students to simulate a business/market day where they prepare, advertise and operate their own business. On May 16 students at Kew High School held their own market day at lunch time in the school yard. There were different types of activities and stalls such as a Carwash, Jewellery, Lucky Dip, Chocolates, Drinks, Urban Art Sketches, Beanies and a Cake Eating competition to name a few. All students, sellers and buyers, had a great day.

COMMERCE

Year 10 Commerce students recently participated in a field investigation at Doncaster Shoppingtown. Their aim was to investigate the structure and business models adopted by selected franchises.

A range of enterprises were chosen for investigation including Pandora, the Athlete’s Foot, La Porchetta and the Coffee Club.  Students conducted interviews with franchise owners and were able to evaluate the strategies these managers used to ensure the success of their operations.

The investigations allowed students to further develop their research skills, especially methods of data collection.
