Student of the Week Awards Presented 12/11/21

Mia D. - 00L

This award goes to Mia for showing the H.E.A.R.T value of Excellence in reading this week. Mia has been practising juggling reading strategies to solve tricky words during reading. She has also done a terrific job noticing and reading common words in her books. Mia you are a Scoresby Superstar!

Cassius D. - 1/2D

Cassius is to be congratulated for embodying the HEART value of Excellence this week. During our ’Mini-Beasts’ Inquiry session, Cassius began his research on dragonflies, where he used both the internet and non-fiction texts to search for information about them. Cassius discovered that dragonflies can be found near fresh water all over the world! Great work on your successful research skills, Cassius!

Mia H. - 1/2F

Mia is receiving this award for consistently demonstrating the HEART values. This week we began our journey to become picture story book authors and when she found it challenging to think of an idea for her story she persevered until she came up with a great plan. Mia worked hard and showed the HEART value of Excellence by creating beautiful drawings for the beginning, middle and end of her story. Well done, Mia! Keep up the great work!

Tommy P. - 1/2K

For the enthusiasm he demonstrates with all of his learning. Tommy is always engaged in lessons and quick to answer questions and share his ideas. This week he excitedly shared some interesting facts he had found about ants while researching for his minibeasts project. Tommy was able to find information on the computer and record it in his own words on his research sheet. Well done Tommy, I can’t wait to see your finished project!

Aiden N. - 3/4C

The 3/4C award goes to Aiden for his brilliant writing this week. Aiden wrote a letter to Anh Do and included questions such as ‘when is your next book coming out?’ and ‘where do you live?’, making sure to also include information about himself. Aiden also included paragraphs, correct punctuation throughout his writing and signed off his letter with ‘Yours sincerely’. Well done Aiden, great work!

Ella K. - 3/4E

During writing this week, Ella wrote a letter to Anh Do. She asked him some wonderful questions including, ‘What is your favourite book that you have written?’ and ‘How was it going through all that fear when escaping your home?’. Ella also told Anh about her favourite books (The Weirdo Series) that he has written and showed empathy towards his experiences as a child, stating that she felt really sad for what had happened. You should be so proud of your letter writing skills Ella!

Ryan W. - 3/4S

Ryan is congratulated on the improvement he is making with his reading. Ryan has been practising his goal and is reading more accurately. He is using a variety of strategies to help him solve words and work out what they mean to help him understand the text. Ryan, keep working hard as you are making great progress.

Parmiss N. - 5/6B

Parmiss listens attentively and consistently shows our Scoresby HEART values. She has developed a pleasing understanding of how to analyse different texts to identify the purpose and intended audience. Parmiss can list a range of different persuasive devices and explain how they are used to persuade the audience. Keep up the great work Parmiss!

This award goes to Kaleb for the enthusiastic approach he has taken with his maths during Remote Learning. Kaleb attended nearly all of the extra support PONT sessions offered and used the whiteboard to show his working out and help with his understanding. Keep up all the great work Kaleb!!

For her hardworking attitude towards all aspects of her learning. In writing this week, Chloe utilised planned ideas to write a detailed persuasive speech that included a variety of arguments. She utilised a variety of persuasive devices such as emotive language. Wonderful effort Chloe! I am so proud to be your teacher.

Eva S. - Visual Arts

Eva totally enjoyed learning to sew! She quickly mastered new techniques and even visited the Art room during a lunch break to continue her design. Eva took great care to make evenly spaced stitches and arranged the felt pieces to fill the space. Congratulations Eva! Your enthusiasm and attention to detail resulted in a fabulous piece of art!

Zac W. - Mandarin

This award acknowledges Zac for settling in Mandarin class this week. He was focused on his learning and joined in all the activities. He had a go sounding out the nationality words in Mandarin. Well done!

Olivia C. - Performing Arts

Congratulations Olivia for this week’s Performing Arts award. Olivia has a head start with the Grade 6 Graduation dance because she practiced it at home during remote learning. Olivia’s consistent effort and positive attitude also makes her a highly valuable member of our class ensemble. Well done Olivia!
