Swimming related mathematics problem.

Prep/ One/ Two problem

There are 19 children lining up to wait for a turn on the water slide and they are standing in the following pattern;

Girl, Girl, Girl, Boy, Girl, Girl, Girl, Boy

 

Will the last person in the line be a boy or a girl?

In total, how many boys are waiting in the line?

Year 3/4 Problem

The bucket at GESAC tips over every 90 seconds. How many times might it tip over between 3:45pm and 4:45pm? 

 

Years 5/6 Problem

You have been asked to design two water slides for the water park. The first is used for younger visitors and thus it can be no steeper than 30 degrees. The second slide is designed for teenagers and it can have an incline of somewhere between 30 and 50 degrees.

 

For each slide provide a labelled diagram that shows the height of the slide, the incline of the slide chute, the length of the slide chute and the horizontal length of the slide (how much ground will it need).
