From the Archives
The College archives' volunteers have made great progress cataloguing their expanding collection. One of the most special items is an altar front which is thought to have been brought out from Germany by the Ursuline Sisters. It was found in storage around the time the Ursuline Convent in Armidale closed. Was it originally used in the Chapel which predated the Our Lady of the Angels Chapel (Ursuline Chapel)? Any thoughts or information are welcome. It will be posted on our College Facebook page.
The Archives welcomes donations of items or printed information that will help in our journey to piece together the rich history of De La Salle, St Ursula and O'Connor Catholic Colleges.
Chess
The O’Connor Catholic College Chess team competed in their first ever electronic Chess competition on Wednesday 18th March 2020 against Farrer Agricultural College in Tamworth. The students found it a different experience but once the students found out how to connect with one another and play the came through chess.com, they were underway and had a great day. Team members were Bradley Lingard, Angus Scrivner, Harrison Ross and Max Buckland.
Walcha Show

Thirty students participated in the junior stock appraisal and Zone finals at the Walcha Agricultural show. Several students were chosen as finalists in British breed, Merino, Fleece and Cattle judging. The age category is U25 and there were several university students also competing.
After having four students qualify for the State finals ( Alex Baker, Hain van Eyk, Isabel Hine, and Analiese Wark) the Sydney Royal Easter Show was cancelled due to the threat of COVID -19. Hopefully, as an alternative, these students will be invited to compete in 2021.

Junior paraders and the heifer show followed and then the Cattle show on Saturday. Our Cattle did well and our show team were fantastic.
A huge thank you to Allie Carson, Will Star, Charlie Piddington, Mitchell Northam, Phoebe Colvin, Makaala, Shyan and Monty Dodd, and Isabel Kelly for their preparation and exhibition of the cattle. Our Vorweck poultry pair won champion large soft feather.
A special mention and thank you to Allie Carson who has managed the show team and prepared our cattle this year. Allie has prepared the equipment, feed, cattle and students in her free time to ensure a hassle free show season. We did not have one hiccup this season due to her good management. THANKS and WELL DONE ALLIE.
