SANE

Educational Partnerships

Our 7/8/9 SANE students have been a part of a Biotechnology pilot program this term in partnership with Melbourne Polytechnic and global biotechnology giant CSL Behring.

The Lakes has been one of three schools undertaking this educational/industry partnership. During this program our students have undertaken an investigation into the wide and varied field of Biotechnology, taking tours of CSL’s word class plasma facility in Broadmeadows and meeting with senior members of the engineering and research teams. This program has also given both our teachers and students opportunities to work with staff at Melbourne Polytechnic with direct biotechnology experience, in which we have investigated using algal balls to try and observe photosynthesis in an effort to witness the challenges of growing crops on Mars.

Next term we hope to continue to strengthen these links and in doing so continue to provide unique opportunities for both our staff and students.
