Hockey 7s

In Term 3 the 5/6 boys and girls hockey teams went to the Greensborough Hockey Club and played in the regional competition against Diamond Creek Central, Ivanhoe and Greenhills. The girls played their first game against Ivanhoe and went down in a well-contested game. While that was happening the boys played against Diamond Creek Central. It was a close game at half time with the scores levelled at 1-1. In the second half The Lakes boys stormed away with 2 more goals and finished with a 3-1 victory.

The girls second game was against a strong Greenhills PS team who needed a victory to advance to the state final. The Lakes girls continued to improve as a team and scored their first goal for the day. Greenhills PS came away with the win and The Lakes girls finished as a stronger team who enjoyed the day and developed their hockey skills.

In the first game, The Lakes boys were against The Diamond Creek Central and had a terrific game. The Lakes boys finished the game with a 3-0 win. Going in the second game The Lakes boys needed a draw to get through to the state final against a very strong team in Ivanhoe PS.

In the first half, the boys had 2 chances to score but both were disallowed and Ivanhoe finished the first half with a 3-0 lead. The Lakes boys fought hard in the second half but finished up with a 3-2 loss in great game of hockey.  

The Lakes girls finished in 3rd position and Greenhills won the division. The boys finished in 2nd position and a chance for a wildcard if a team pulls out. Ivanhoe won the division. It was a great day enjoyed by all.
