From the P.E Department

5/6 Fast Track

This term in 5/6 Fast Track we have been exploring the variety of fitness components and how they can benefit us in our sport. We did a variety of activities to measure where we are at. It was challenging but it is important to do these type of activities so we can improve our skills. Students have been working together to solve problems within the learning activities and have focused on developing tactics to find solutions within the games.

We have been focusing on football in the last month which has been run by Joel from the Collingwood Football Club. We have been working in teams and developed values for our teams. We have developed our skills in football and this has been really fun; playing small sided football games and baseball style games have been a highlight of this term.

Primary Sport

Term 3 was a fantastic time in Primary Sport at The Lakes. A selection of our Years 4, 5 and 6 students participated in the District Athletics with the multiple ribbons rewarded to our terrific students! Many progressed to the Division level with the highlight of Charlotte A from Year 6 finishing in 4th place in the 1500m event.

Within our 5/6 cohort, we were involved in the Hooptime competition with our students representing the values with class. The preparation from our students was excellent; many dedicating their time to properly prepare for the event. Our best finish was a second place with our All Star Boys teams. Thank you to Asha, Courtney and Hunter in Year 8 for mentoring the teams in the lead up and during the competitions.
