Bon Voyage Storer family!

Last Friday we said goodbye to Toby and his family as they head off on an amazing adventure to France. In Year 1 we farewelled Toby by decorating Eiffel Tower biscuits with icing and lollies. We had a lot of fun making and eating these delicious treats. We also surprised Toby with a special book that we made which highlighted all of the special things that we love about Toby. We wish the Storer family safe travels and we can not wait to hear all about life in France.

FOUNDATION

Messages from Buttercup Dimple

Over the term, Holly in Foundation, has received fairy messages from 'Buttercup Dimple'. Holly has bought these very special notes into class to share with the Foundation children.

Buttercup Dimple asks Holly lots of questions and reading these messages to the class has sparked many discussions.

We look forward to many more interesting notes from Buttercup Dimple. Thank you sharing them with the class.

Holly has also found Cuddly Dudley's brother!

Holly  explained to the class that his name is 'Huggly Dougly'. When Holly bought Huggly Dougly into class we could all see the family resemblance. Can you?

Shapes in Foundation

In Foundation last week, the children were making two-dimensional shapes using play doh.

The class identified sides and corners of a variety of shapes and then tried to make them with play doh, scissors and  glue sticks. They had lots of fun creating them, and it was wonderful to hear the rich discussion between children using mathematical language.

Well Done Foundation!

YEAR 5

Sovereign Hill

On the 30th of May the Year 5s visited Sovereign Hill as part of our Connected Learning Unit on the Gold Rush and the impact the Gold Rush had on Victoria. The students were extremely well planned before the excursion and had mapped out all the locations & attractions they wished to see. They explored every inch of the site,  dragging along our teachers and support staff with them.

The Lolly Shop, Blacksmiths, Candle Store, panning for gold in the creek, the Red Hill Mine and our education session (where the students role played what life was life on the goldfields) were the major attractions.

As a reflection of their excursion the students were asked to create a brochure of their experience, or an advertising brochure promoting Sovereign Hill. Here are a couple of examples of these. Thanks to Noah, Minty and Georgia for sharing.

Influential Australians

- Three Minute Speeches

Our students have begun presenting their presentations about an influential Australian. These are current or former Australian citizens we believe have been influential in helping shape Australia. This includes people who have motivated or inspired others.

As part of the project, students were asked to create a single page poster of their 'Influential Aussie' which encapsulates why they have deemed them, influential.

Here is 5 Mac's Slideshow of our Influential Aussies.

YEAR 1

visit ANZAC House

Today the Year 1 students visited the residents at ANZAC House.  In Connected Learning we are learning about the past and the present, so it was fantastic to be able to ask questions and hear about what life was like for the residents when they were six years old.  We also sang a song and gave them handmade cards.  Both the students and the residents had a great time together.
