WELLBEING
Last year Mrs Clingan managed to secure some terrific funding for St James which has now enabled us to run two programs for the Year 2-6 students at St James. We have engaged Life Skills Group to deliver a PDHPE enrichment program that will extend our schools classroom learning. The enrichment program involves movement, games, stretching, mindfulness, creative activities, exercise and play aimed at building resilience, developing self-regulation, increasing self-awareness, practising positive relationship skills, understanding inclusiveness and strengthening problem solving skills.
The enrichment program is also a professional development opportunity for teachers who will develop their strategies for teaching physical, social, and emotional health and wellbeing of students by working alongside the Life Skills Group teachers.
The program will run for 6 weeks. The children will need to wear their sports uniform on their Life Skills Group lesson which will be held on Wednesdays during weeks 1-6 of term 3.
Also during term 3 during weeks 3-10 all students will have the opportunity to take part in yoga with Jackie. Jackie has been teaching yoga to the students of St James for a few years now. Jackie is a registered teacher with VIT and has previously taught Physical Education. The program is being finalised at the moment. Please see the following link for more information regarding the program and the benefit of these sessions with Jackie. Yes2yoga.

WINTER APPEAL
Each year St James supports the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal. This year we are again asking the St James community to bring in items to be donated to the St Vincent de Paul Gardenvale conference.
Last week the SRC reps got together to create posters to go in each classroom. They have also been busy reminding their class to bring in their donations.
We will present our donations at the Feast for the Sacred Heart Mass on Friday 28th June and 9.15am in the Pop Up Church and we extend a warm invitation to all families to join us. Thank you all for your support and generous donations.
Below is a list of items and donations that can be placed in the baskets located in each classroom.

EUCHARIST
Over the past 4 weeks the students have been attending Mass in preparation for their FIrst Eucharist early next term. Students have been actively participating in the Mass and it has been lovely to see families come together in the Liturgy celebration. Please keep these students in your prayers over the coming week.
OUR STORY
Over the term the students have been exploring ‘Our Story - past, present and future’. As the end of term fast approaches we are wanting to celebrate all our stories. On the last day of school students will be involved in activities lead by the year 6 students from 11.00am - 12.30pm. We invite students to come dressed in clothing that represents ‘Their Story’.
