Interschool Sport Update

This year Nossal students are competing in a new interschool sport division called Cardinia Division. The 6 other schools include Kambrya SC, Kooweerup SC, Officer SC, Pakenham SC, Lakeside College and Minaret College. Nossal students filled teams in every sport for Term 1 which included Intermediate and Senior Cricket, Tennis, Volleyball, Softball and Baseball.

Nossal had an amazing amount of success in these competitions in Term 1 with 8 teams winning as division champions.

Congratulations to the following teams as division champions:

• Senior girls Cricket, coached by Ms Pumphrey and Mr Bird.          
• Intermediate boys Tennis, coached by Mr Harneth.                        
• Intermediate girls Volleyball, coached by Ms Coffa                         
• Senior boys and girls Volleyball, coached by Ms Veale                      
• Senior girls Softball, coached by Ms Desaulniers                
• Senior boys and girls Tennis, coached by Mr Hamilton     

The senior boys and girls tennis teams have already played at the Southern Metro Region finals and were both successful as Region champions. In Nossal’s 10 year history we have only ever had 2 interschool sport teams make it to state finals after being named region champions. In 2013, Nossal’s Senior Boys Hockey Team came runners up in the School Sport Victoria competition and in 2015 our Senior Boys Netball Team made it to state finals.

Therefore, it is an amazing effort to see both our senior boys and girls tennis teams progress through to the SSV state finals on 20th May (Week 5) this term. We wish all of the tennis players, and Mr Hamilton their coach, the best of luck.
