ISA Round 10 – 1st XI v Blue Mountains Grammar School at Oxford Falls

A wet start to the final round of the ISA competition greeted both teams at Oxford Falls. The toss was won by the 1st XI who put the opposition into bat. James Power took two early wickets with the new ball before a rain delay. The Blue Mountains batsmen fought hard, but the 1st XI bowlers stuck to their task as Duncan Dingley took three wickets; being well supported by Josh Hooper, Liam Kinna, Joe Colgan and Liam Chang. After 36 overs the visitors were dismissed for 53.

Joe Colgan and Adam Greenwood were aggressive in their pursuit of the total which was achieved in short time. This was a fitting send off to the Year 12 cricketers who played their last match at Oxford Falls: Stuart Dingley, Duncan Dingley, Adam Greenwood, Laurence Sheehan, Tyson McCallum and Josh Hooper.

1st XI 0-57 (Adam Greenwood 26 not out, Joe Colgan 25 not out) defeated Blue Mountains Grammar School 10/53 (Duncan Dingley 3-10, James Power 2-10, Joshua Hooper 2-9, Joe Colgan 1-2, Liam Chang 1-16).

ISA Representative Cricket

On Sunday, Joe Colgan and Stuart Dingley made very useful contributions with the bat for the ISA team as they successfully chased 210 for victory in the annual match against Combined Associated Schools at Trinity Grammar School.

This began a busy week of representative cricket with matches against GPS and Country Schools to follow. Liam Chang will join both Stuart and Joe on Wednesday in representing the ISA against GPS. The ISA side is coached by Mr Rodgers.

Sydney Junior Pennant Summer Finals - 22/02/2020

SPX 1 had a hard fought win against Knox 8 to take out the grand final on a count back of games and points. Congratulations to captain Gary Mullins, Anton Webber, Charlie Cullen and Gilbert Davie on a fantastic end of the season result!

Division 4 Final

SPX 1 v  Knox 8 Win 2-1

Gary Mullins 10-15,15-5,15-13,10-15,15-11

Anton Webber 16-14,13-15,12-15, 15-10, 15-0

Charlie Cullen  13-15, 11-15, 11-15

Gilbert Davie – BYE

Captain Tom Wilkins led his team valiantly in the final against Knox 16 and won his match giving St Pius X an early lead. Unfortunately, Knox 16 were too strong and won the next two matches against Oliver Mullen and Dylan Moore. Considering Oliver and Dylan had never played squash before the 2019/20 season, it was an impressive feat for all players to make the grand final.

Division 9 Final

SPX 5 v Knox 16 Runners Up 1-2

Tom Wilkins 15-6, 13-15, 15-12, 17-16

Oliver Mullen 8-15, 9-15, 8-15

Dylan Moore 6-15, 7-15, 4-15

NSTA Tennis

It hasn’t been a great start for the 8am games and unfortunately these games were rained out again last weekend. Let’s pray for better weather for this weekend.

After seeing a break in the rain and a patch of blue sky, the 10am games began. It’s always exciting to watch Pius vs Pius games and last weekend was no exception. There was a very exciting tiebreaker played by Lucas Youngman (SPX 13) and Jude Cuninghame (SPX 16) which had the spectators applauding the play. SPX 2 made up of Nathan Constantino and Anton Langreiter tried hard to hold onto the match in the doubles but were pipped at the post with a loss of 5-6. Anton came back in the singles though to win 6-0 with some wonderful rallies and great sportsmanship.

A reminder to check the School App to check for any updates on games. The 8am and 10am games run independent of each other therefore different calls maybe made on whether games will be played or not.

Any tennis player who is at Talus St on Saturday morning who is looking for CIP hours, please check in with one of the teachers when you arrive. Remember you will need to be there by 7:45am if you want to help out.

Please note that the weekly draw can be accessed via this link: NSTA DRAW.
