Principal Post
Dear Families,
As we begin week two of the term, COVID and illness has certainly thrown us a challenge. With so many staff away with illness we have drawn from all resources to do our best to maximise learning for our students. At this current time there is difficulty securing casual relief teachers, and to this end I thank our staff for being so flexible to support our students.
Please note: The period of time when someone is considered a recently confirmed case and therefore exempt from testing and isolation requirements has been reduced from the previous 12 weeks to four weeks.
This means that staff and students who are household contacts of people with COVID-19 are not exempt from the testing and isolation requirements after four weeks of completing isolation with COVID-19. Previously, this period was 12 weeks.
This means that a student or staff member who is a household contact and wishes to attend school must take five RATs over seven days and receive negative test results, and wear a face mask (if over eight years old) in indoor spaces. This applies from four weeks after the end of an isolation period when they were a case.
I thank all parents and students also for their understanding and ongoing support.
You are able to request a box of RAT tests to be sent home with your child by contacting the office. If your child is unwell keep them at home.
School Closure Day
A reminder that the school will be closed to all students THIS Friday 22nd July
The staff will be undertaking some Professional Development In Religious Education specifically in the area of RE assessment. Our day will be facilitated by MACS staff as well as our Religious Education Leader, Ru Lameijn.
100 Days of Prep
As you are aware next Wednesday 27th July will be our special 100 Day celebration for our Prep students. The day will be filled with exciting rotations and activities. They are currently bringing in their projects marking the concept of 100.
Parents and grandparents are invited to the Performing Arts Room at 2:45pm for a prayer service. (Please note the change of time). We encourage you to wear a mask. Please note that we will not be having the afternoon tea gathering as planned.
This is due to the current COVID situation and the nature of the event.
Year 6 Camp
How lucky were we with our Year 6 camp last week!! Our congratulations to our Year 6 students for representing themselves and our school so well across the week. As Principal I am so proud to hear from Camp staff, School staff and Bus Drivers how engaging and well mannered our students were. My thanks again to the SJV staff who worked tirelessly to ensure an excellent camp experience for our students. Their care for our students, along with their skill and generosity of time do not go unnoticed!
The Year six students have compiled a Camp Report which is included in this newsletter.
MATHS NIGHT
Our Maths night planned for next Thursday 28th July has been postponed due to the COVID and other illnesses, the nature of the activities and the anticipated size of each group. It will be rescheduled on a date to be confirmed
