Policy Update from the Education Committee

The Education Committee would like to share two important policy updates with our BPS Community.

Firstly, there are new changes nationwide to the Child Safe Standards. Most of these changes will come into effect from July 2022.

School council approved an updated Child Safe Standards Code of Conduct at our June 15th School Council Meeting. Please ensure you are familiar with this code of conduct and do let us know if you have any feedback. The code of conduct has been adapted from a Department of Education template and contains all the necessary requirements. Further updates to other polices will be communicated in coming months as we work through the changes.

Secondly, as an International Baccalaureate school offering the Primary Years Programme, we are now required to have an Academic Integrity Policy. The Education Committee have drafted and created this Academic Integrity Policy which has also been approved by School Council.

Thanks

Joel Snowden | Assistant Principal on behalf of the Education Committee.

Prep 2023 Parent Information Sessions

Dear Parents and Carers,

Do you have a child starting Prep at Brighton Primary in 2023?  We are holding Future Prep Parent Information Sessions at the school over the coming months.

If you haven't had a child in Prep at BPS recently or ever before, and would like to know more about current teaching and learning in Prep, then please book onto one of the sessions via this link.

Sessions will be run by Principal Steve Meade and a selection of teachers and staff, and will include:

• Information about teaching and learning in Prep

• Learn about the specialist program

• An opportunity to ask questions

Information Session Dates (please only select one session as they are all the same):

• Thursday 28th July 9.15-10.15am

• Tuesday 30th August 9.15-10.15am

We ask parents to attend a session without children if possible as this presentation is targeted to a parent audience. Later this year, and subject to DHHS guidelines, we intend to offer new Prep students the opportunity to participate in, 'A Taste of Prep' sessions, allowing your child to experience school prior to their Orientation Day. More information on these sessions will be communicated later in Term 3.
