Medical Biotechnology in Focus Excursion
On Thursday August 4th, our Year 12 VCE Biology students participated in the ‘Medical Biotechnology in Focus Program’ at the Whittlesea Tech School.
During this ‘hands-on’ STEM inquiry program, students commenced their Independent Research Investigation on the effect of naturally occurring antimicrobial compounds on the growth of bacterial cultures, E.coli and L. acidophilus. This collaborative venture enabled students to commence one of their major VCE Assessment Tasks, their Unit 4 Outcome 3 Scientific Poster.
A special note of thanks to the Tech School Staff, Anne Jessup and Sandra McKechnie, for all of their expertise and support - it was a pleasure working with them on this program in a ‘face-to-face’ learning environment!
