Dear Families,
I cannot believe the pace with which our year is progressing. Our Senior students are working hard with their teachers to put themselves in the best position for their end of year exams. We continue to wish them the very best in their endeavours. Naturally, if any families feel their students have further needs that we may assist – or if families have any concerns at all – please be in touch as we are here to help. I often see students working hard during their study breaks and we are very proud of their efforts.
We recently had the Year 12 formal. This was an opportunity for the students to have a night of relaxation and enjoyment prior to the final push to exams. It was a pleasure for me to speak with the students and yet again be amazed at the maturity of these young people who, not so long ago, were children in Year 7. This is one of the great joys in our profession. Being new to the school, I also greatly enjoyed the opportunity to mix with staff in a social environment. See pictures in this issue.
It was a great privilege to meet so many families at our reporting day, and to have some very good discussions about their students’ progress. I warmly thank all families who were able to make it on the day – should you have any queries about accessing report information or wish to have a follow-up conversation of any kind – again, please be in touch.
A wide range of extra-curricular opportunities continue nearly every day for our students, whether sporting, or in relation to their study areas. Thank you to all families for responding promptly with permissions for such events as they come your way. This assists us to be organised to ensure the safety of our students, and to make sure they can take up the opportunities provided to support their learning in the ‘real world’.
I am very pleased to say that over the last few months we have been joined at the college by a range of new students who are settling well into the college and embracing our ethos of caring for one another and following our college values of Imagination, Belief and Courage. Enrolments for Year 7 2023 are also looking very positive, and we look forward to immersing new students into the joys of secondary school through our Transition and Orientation programs. I have been visiting primary schools in the area and taking part in their assemblies because I feel it is important to put our youngest students at ease about commencing secondary school. If anyone in our community is aware of a family interested in the best quality education that can be provided, encourage them to reach out to us.
On Friday 26th August, The Student Voice group will host ‘Wear It Purple Day’ in support of making sure everyone in our community feels connected and can have a place to belong. A range of enjoyable activities are being arrange for students to participate in if they wish, and I am grateful for all the work students have undertaken to ensure an enjoyable day. I am hoping I have a decent purple tie in the wardrobe!
