Things you can do now to help and other info

Decorations around the school

For simple but lovely decorations (and to support the post market long-term cubby building activities around the school) we have chosen for our WMM decorations to be branches. To help make our vision a reality, we would greatly appreciate donations of large branches and any tree prunings you can find (if you could please collect them ready to bring in the week of the market it would be fabulous).

Art Auction items (Kim Pickburn, Jane Eckett, Sam Everton, Ben Guy)

This year the art auction will be ‘live’, displayed across the art room and multipurpose room, but to reduce crowding all bidding will be done online through airauctioneer.com

We’ll also be offering kids’ artworks, made during art class in term 3, for sale (not auction) on the day.

Whether painting, drawing, sewing, photography or sculpture is your thing, we welcome any and all contributions to the art auction. Please drop it off at the school office, with a completed donor form (available from the office), or contact Jane Eckett (jleckett@unimelb.edu.au) to let her know what you plan to donate so she can prepare the online auction site. Bidding can begin online as soon as an item is listed, so the earlier you drop off the work the better!

Child minding will be available for parents doing the 4-7pm and pack up shifts – You will be asked to book in via a booking sheet that will become available the week before the market. Sponsored by our OHSC program.

Books, Books Books – Marie Kondo your bookcase for a good cause (Amelia Christo and Jess Borger)

The secondhand book stall is an absolute favourite for so many of the visitors to Winter Magic Market. Take the opportunity to clean out your bookcases and bring along books in good condition for the stall. Please start to box up books you will want to donate, drop of points will be set up soon.

Cake/Treat/Afternoon tea (Sophie Bruce, Linda Reiling, Naomi Wake, Linda Williamson)

Whether you are a fancy baker or someone who makes the most fabulous simple cookies ever tasted there is an opportunity to make/bake something for our famously fantabulous cake stall. Simple cake, fancy cakes, log cakes, slab cake for serving with coffee, tarts, fancy biscuits, simple chocolate chip cookies, shortbreads, chocolates, honey joys, chocolate crackles everything is welcomed.

Inflatables

We will have some fun inflatable activities on the oval and something special on the basketball court. Wrist bands ($20) will be available for purchase at a discount to school families in the two-weeks prior to the market. Families eligible for the CSEF are eligible for an additional discount on the pre-purchased wrist bands. On the day single ride tickets ($5) and wrist bands ($30) will be available.

If you are in the position to do so you might consider purchasing a wrist band for your kids and also putting a donation in to support families who need a little support. We like to try and make the market inclusive and acknowledge that it can be an expensive day for families.

Postcards, posters and advertising

Posters and pdf files that will be able to be used to promote the event will be available in term three.

Musicians bring magic to the winter market

Live music is one of the highlights of the Winter Magic Market. There will be plenty of opportunities for the kids to perform as well. This year to make things a little easier we are looking at some options to bring the fun as well as create the lovely ambience we all so enjoy. One of the ideas being developed is a karaoke option where for a fee you can nominate someone to perform a song, the bidding then begins for them to either buy their way out of the performance or others to put in bids to ensure the performance happens.
