A Message from Hannah & Keir

We would like to acknowledge and honour the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the land on which our school stands. We pay our respects to all First Nations elders, past present and emerging.

Welcome to term three everyone. I hope that everyone had a restful and restorative break and that you are all eager to jump back into the learning and fun that is term three at BNWPS (I know I am!)

As we begin term three, we would like to welcome a few new faces (and some returning ones!) to the BNWPS family.

Jessica Leaming

Jessica will be taking all of the Performing Arts classes for this term;

Jessica is so excited to meet the students over this next week and become part of the BNWPS community! She has recently moved to the area from Geelong where she has been teaching performing arts, drama and acting classes for many years both in primary schools and at a local acting studio. Jessica  decided to make the move to Melbourne to pursue more creative opportunities after finishing a web series she had written, directed and produced earlier this year. She looks forward to sharing her passion of drama with you all and thank everyone for making her feel so welcome already!

Cam Ball

Cam was our Performing Arts teacher last term and has moved into EFK (a Foundation classroom) for the rest of the year;

Cam has joined the Foundation Team after teaching students throughout the school in Performing Arts in Term 2. This is Cam's second year teaching, with experience mainly in years F-3. He is passionate about fostering links between classroom learning and life in the community, and to encourage students to be curious about the world around them. Before teaching Cam worked in the Food Industry in quality control, later working for a range of local coffee roasters such as Wide Open Road. In his spare time, he enjoys going on camping, hiking, kayaking, and scuba adventures. He is especially excited now about planning for his upcoming wedding in the September holidays.

Andrew the Art Teacher is taking three weeks of well earnt long service leave, and we are very happy to have Christine Jasper on board working in the Visual Arts program for these three weeks.

Scarlett McKee

Scarlett  has joined the Education Support team. This is Scarlett’s second time working at the school after completing placement here in 2020 and working here in term 4 that year. Scarlett is in her second year of studying teaching at Swinburne and will continue her studies part-time. Before beginning on the path of being a teacher Scarlett was a photographer mainly working with families and children.

Scarlett will be working in some of our Junior and Middle classrooms in an Education Support role.

COVID

As you may have heard or read in the media, cases of COVID and the Flu are increasing as Melbourne moves deeper into winter. With this in mind, we have a few reminders;

  • It is still a recommendation that masks are worn in areas where social distancing can not be maintained
  • Students and staff who live with a confirmed case of COVID should be wearing a mask at all times when they are at school.
  • Free Rapid Antigen Tests are available from the school for students who are experiencing COVID symptoms or have a family member who has tested positive. It is recommended that family members of a positive COVID case test daily.
  • If students or staff are unwell, the best place for them to be is at home resting and recuperating
