Project22 – a collaboration with Roxburgh College to improve student learning
Reading and learning about the best way to teach maths, using evidence from Australia and around the world. Comparing this to what is current happening in both school and developing plans to make improvements.
In term three teachers from both schools will conduct Peer Observations where Primary school teachers will head to the College and observe the ways maths is planned and taught, followed by discussing different ways of planning, teaching and assessing.
One of the changes we will investigate is the Middle Years Maths Challenges, development by the Department of Education in conjunction with Mathematical Association of Victoria. We will use these maths challenges in the middle years (years 4 -6) to support student engagement in maths, and build teacher confidence and capability in teaching with the proficiencies.
NAPLAN and Student Attitude to school survey
This term, two assessments were completed by students, Years 3 and 5 completed NAPLAN and Years 4, 5 and 6 completed the student attitude to school survey.
Well done to all students who showed persistence, focus and determination. It pushed many students to think, problem solve and be independent.
The leadership team, teachers, student leaders and the student action team will all analyse the information these assessments provide and make suggestions towards improvements.
Once official data is released to the school, we will share the areas of success, along with the areas that still require improvement.
School pick up safety
Please ensure that you are being safe during school pick up time.
Use a car park when dropping off and picking up children, don’t stop in the middle of the street.
If there are no parks, drive a loop of the block and return in a few minutes.
Alternatively, parking further down the street and walking up can provide a consistent pick-up routine.
If you think parking is an issue, please contact the Hume City Council contactus@hume.vic.gov.auand let them know what improvements could be made.
The local council and Victoria Police will be monitoring the Almands Ave regularly in term 3.
