Parents and Friends Community News

Hi everyone,

Here's a reminder of key dates for Terms 3 and 4.

Dad’s Footy Game - Saturday 20th August

After a hiatus of two years due to lockdowns the Dads are busy limbering up, stretching (hopefully not pulling) their hamstrings and dusting off their footy boots for the mighty clash against Brighton Beach Primary School.  Game starts at 1.30pm at Brighton Grammar School Crowther Oval, and as well as the game we are thrilled that St Kilda Football Club will be coming down with their inflatables for the kids.  Keep an eye out for more info on this soon.

Father’s Day Stall - Thursday 1st September

We are looking forward to delivering the annual Father’s Day stall for the kids.  A great opportunity for kids to buy a lovely gift for dad or someone special.  More to follow on this, and as always, we will need volunteers on the day.

Lapathon Thursday 8th September

A great event for the kids who really get to demonstrate their fitness, resilience and competitiveness.  They are running for their House and their class, so true teamwork!  There’s always a great buzz on the day with parents coming along to cheer on and encourage their kids, so make sure you block out that morning to experience the great BPS Lapathon.  The Lapathon Cup is up for the House winner and we wonder if Apollo will be able to hold their crown again this year?  Not forgetting the kids love competing for the pizza prize for the class with the most laps in each year level. This is a great fundraiser for the school!

Parents Social Event - Encore St Kilda - Friday 14th October

Planning is well underway to deliver a wonderful night for our parents and friends to enjoy at Encore, St Kilda.  This is a great opportunity for us to come together, enjoy a fab night out, pat ourselves on the back for what great parents we are and hope that we never have to homeschool again!  We’ll drink to that!  Further details will be provided in the coming weeks on ticket options, entertainment and lots more.  You don’t want to miss out on this one folks!

Community Carnival - Friday 19 November

This will be a huge, fun event for all the family and broader community.   Think fun amusement rides, tombolas, food stalls, popcorn, fairy floss, a band, market stalls, dunk the teacher (oh yes!) In term 3 we will be seeking volunteers to take on different roles to help us deliver this spectacular, so please lock in the date for the whole family from 4pm that afternoon into the evening.
