Stage 3 Debating Competition
On Tuesday our two Stage 3 debating teams took part in the final round of the Armidale Diocesan Debating Competition. This round was held at St Nicholas School where both our teams were the affirmative, debating the topic "The development of artificial intelligence will harm humanity".
St Edward's Team A (Louise Archer, Hector Vera, Kate Seckold and Lexie Cook) narrowly went down to St Nicholas Team B in the first debate, then St Edward's Team B (Evie Judge, Ivy Allan, Charlie Hague and Ruby Webster) won their debate against St Nicholas Team A. We are so proud of the efforts of our students over the four rounds of the competition. Their critical thinking skills have really improved, as has their ability to deliver a well structured and persuasive argument.
