Camp

It was an absolute pleasure to attend Blackwood camp with many Secondary students this week.  Over the three days, it was admirable to see students work as a team, and support and encourage each other to do their best.  Students demonstrated many other strengths, including independence, friendship and caring for others.     

Staffing Update

Prior to term 4 commencing, we had a change of teacher for our PE program.  We welcome Olivia Woolhouse to our team this term, who is teaching PE and in room 20 on Thursdays.   

This term we also welcome Eliza Johnson, our new Occupational Therapist to our allied health team.  Eliza has had a positive start and is enjoying going into classrooms and meeting students. 

We are currently advertising Teacher and Education Support positions for 2025, and hope to make some new appointments soon to fulfil our workforce planning. 

Building update

If you have been at school lately, you would have seen our new build coming along well, and very quickly.   Ceiling and walls are now in place in the main building, and fittings are currently being installed.  This week steel beams have been erected around the pool, ready for timber frames to be installed.   At this stage, the main build and pool will be ready for us to use at the start of the 2025 school year. 

We have started to plan for furniture for our new spaces, including the Library - Resource room.  We will have a combination of tables, chairs, ottomans, cushions and a cubby.  These will provide a variety of comfortable options for students to enjoy reading and learning in this room.   This week we asked students what cubby design they would like and what fabric pattern they would like to see on some of the ottomans. 

Showcase and Shine - Save the Date

We have our annual end of year Croydon SDS community event - Showcase and Shine coming up.  Please note this in your diary - Wednesday 4 December, 5-7pm.  Planning for this event is currently underway; we'll share more details closer to the date.    

Communicating Changes for 2025

We are now planning for 2025, including creating sections and class groups.  If your family are planning any changes for 2025 which will impact on school, (eg. change of address or school) please let us know as soon as possible.
