Principals Message

Liz O'Loughlin

Father Stanly will be celebrating a mass this afternoon, Friday, 13 September 2024 at 5.30pm in Leongatha, in the Syro-Malabar Rite.

This is a wonderful opportunity to experience a different liturgical tradition! The Syro-Malabar Rite has its own rich set of rituals and symbols that can offer a fresh perspective on the Mass. The use of Malayalam and the distinct elements of the service will make it a unique and enriching experience and this exposure to a different tradition may deepen understanding and appreciation of the diverse ways people celebrate their faith.

Bonjour à tous

Our School Crossing Supervisors have reported increased traffic issues around our school crossings and this is a serious concern which can impact the safety of students, staff, and the community. Keeping school zones safe is essential for our children's protection.

Here’s a simple guide to help you:

  • Observe Signs and Speed Limits: Pay attention to all school zone signs, including speed limits and warnings about school crossings.
  • Follow Signals: Stop when directed by crossing guards and follow their instructions. Do not proceed until the crossing guard has lowered their flag or signaled that it is safe.
  • Watch for Children: Be vigilant for children crossing the street, especially during school start and end times. Children may not always be predictable, so drive slowly and be prepared to stop.
  • No Parking or Stopping: Avoid parking or stopping in areas designated as no-parking zones or within crossings to ensure clear visibility and access for crossing guards and students.

Talking to your children about road safety is also crucial for their well-being and helps instill lifelong habits. Here are key points to discuss and remind them about:

  • Following Instructions: Listen to and follow the directions of crossing guards and teachers when crossing the street.
  • Using Crossings: Always use designated crossings and wait for the crossing guard’s signal before crossing.
  • Looking Both Ways: Even when you have a green light or a crossing guard's signal, look both ways to ensure that no vehicles are approaching.
  • Avoid Distractions: Stay alert and avoid distractions like smartphones or headphones while crossing the street.

By following these guidelines, you play a vital role in keeping our school zones safe. Your cooperation helps ensure a secure environment for all students as they travel to and from school.

The Big Tree

We would like to inform you about a recent development concerning the safety of our school grounds. Following the recent high winds, we observed that a branch from our Big Tree had fallen. To address this and ensure the ongoing safety, we have taken immediate action by employing Arborzone Total Tree Care to conduct an early annual tree maintenance check.

We want to assure you that student and staff safety is our top priority. The maintenance and care of our trees are essential to preventing future incidents and ensuring a secure environment for everyone.

Thank you for your attention to these matters and for your continued support as we work to maintain a safe and healthy school environment.

Avec beaucoup de reconnaissance

Liz
