Term 3 Assembly
Here's a summary of the Term 3 Assembly held on Tuesday, September 10th, 2024:
The assembly showcased a range of talents from across the college, centred around the theme of RESPECT. Andrew Moore from the Umpire Association was the guest speaker. Sabri and Reyhaneh presented the 2024 GSSC Athletics Age Group Champions, recognizing outstanding performances in various age categories. They also acknowledged students who excelled in the Hume Region Cross Country Championships, with special recognition given to Kazadi Kadima and Ashlee Meyer for their achievements at the State level.
The assembly continued with recognition of the students who competed in the School Sport Victoria Badminton Championships, followed by Jaideep Singh Dhillon presenting Mrs. O'Brien with the Hume Region Champion pennant.
A special musical performance by Ms Panella and Tylah of the song "Volare" provided a preview of the upcoming Italy trip for select Year 10, 11, and 12 students. Following this, Layla Pryde and Abbas Al Hashoush shared highlights from the Year 7 students' celebration of their first 100 days.
Isabella and Joanna then announced the NAPLAN High Achievers for 2024, with students from Biyala, Dharnya, and Bayuna recognized for their achievements.
Madi and Trinity discussed the GSSC Show Team's success at the Victorian School Merino Wether Challenge, where the team earned several top placements, including Overall Grand Champions. Rory Donnelly presented the achievement awards to Mrs. O'Brien.
The assembly concluded with a powerful vocal performance by Ella Banawan, who sang "Rise Up" by Andra Day, and a VoxPop segment exploring what respect means to the College community. The final address was delivered by Mrs. O'Brien, particularly directed towards the Year 12 students.
