Welcome back for our final term for 2024! The year has flown by and Term 4 is set to be another busy and productive term.
Reading: In our reading sessions we began our novel study on R.J Palacio's 'Wonder'. Students are very immersed in the novel and have been completing tasks involving answering questions about the text, using evidence from the text to support their answers and making inferences about how character's are thinking or feeling.
Writing: In writing we started a new unit on Poetry. Students are being challenged to understand the importance of word choice and how the words they use can alter the meaning or tone of their poems. Students have completed blackout poems and are learning about different rhyme schemes.
Maths: We commenced the term with some revision of formal multiplication. Students have also been exploring the connection between fractions, decimals and percentages.
Humanities: Our topic for this term is Geography, with a specific focus on different environments and sustainable resources. Students have been exploring the different biomes within Australia and Africa.
Students enjoyed a visit from two officers from Pakenham Police Station. They got a close up look at the various equipment the police use as part of their job and the chance to sit in the front (and back!) of a police divisional van.
