PHYSICAL EDUCATION
This term our P.E focus has been around sports that involve Striking.
Our Prep - 2 students have been learning about the 2 handed strike and the sport of T-ball. We are starting to extend our knowledge to fielding incorporating elements of running and throwing the ball to the appropriate location.
Our Grade 3-6 students have been focusing on Tennis. They have been focusing on the rules involved as well as key skills such as serving, returning and completing a rally.
CONGRATULATIONS to Rachel for her awesome efforts at the Regional Athletics! She placed third in the Southern Metropolitan Region which is an incredible result. We couldn't be more proud, you are a star!
LOTE - AUSLAN
Across all grades, we have been looking and listening to different stories and how we can use our Auslan knowledge to communicate what is happening on each page.
Our junior students have been focusing on their base words and incorporating their prior knowledge of colours and numbers to form sentences.
Our middle and senior students are communicating full sentences and ensuring their facial expressions match the emotive language being shown.
STEAM: Science, Technology & The Arts
This term, students will be focusing on physical sciences. Junior students have been working on what an algorithm is, and how to create digital algorithms in ScratchJr. Middle students are working on magnetic forces and they have been doing a range of experiments to understand the different ways that magnets work. Senior students are learning about circuits and they have made a range of circuits that have turned a lightbulb on, made a spinning motor work and created sound with a buzzer.
We had our Space Centre excursion for the 5/6s which was a great success! Students learned about what astronauts do on expeditions and in mission control and created dancing robots using a circuit.
For our 1/2s, we have a STEM professional, Renuka, working alongside Miss White to create engaging digital technologies tasks. She popped in for a visit to meet our students and get to know them.
