PREP AA

Hello families!

What a beautiful start to the term we have had, lots of beautiful hugs and stories from the holidays have been shared and we welcomed a lovely new friend into the Prep AA room. Welcome Kyuss, we love hearing about your knowledge of Pokémon and seeing what you can create with Mobilo!

This term we have focused on knowledge consolidation, taking all the skills and learning we have focused on all term and applied this to our reading and writing. In Reading, we are focusing on making  predictions just by looking at illustrations and seeing if our predictions come true, looking at punctuation and practicing our fluency. (First blending the words and then reading the sentence all together). We have all been spelling and reading more sight words which helps us with our overall reading skills so thank you to you all for practicing and revising sight words at home with your little ones.

In Numeracy this term we have been doing some very tricky math's skills, revising number sense and friends of ten, learning numbers up to 100 and beyond and starting real life sharing!

Below is photos of us creating our humanities stained glass window butterflies!!

Police visit:

We were lucky enough to have two Sergeants from Victoria Police come out to see the Junior school, students were shown what Police Officers keep on them and how heavy their vest is. Discussed important topics like community safety and explored what kind of jobs they provide in Officer, students also went and saw the sirens and lights on the police car and got to sit in the car! Students were thrilled to meet the police officers and it was an amazing experience.

Mini Fete:

Our Junior school had a great time supporting our year six students with their mini fete, we had a teacher target, tattoos, zooper doopers, gumboot toss and more and the preps were thrilled to share this experience with their buddies. It was a great hands on experience to help with money and using it in real life scenarios.

Special events:

Swimming:

As swimming fast approaches, I have been discussing more and more about how we care for our belongings and ourselves in and out of the pool. I am so happy to hear that your children have been practicing at home how to change and know what is in their swimming bags.

In regards to swimming I just want to let you all know that if your child is in a one piece or a bathing suit that is difficult to take on and off to toilet, I will assign time to go and change before we leave on the bus!

This week I will attach forms in your Childs diaries about any amounts owing and consent forms so please keep an eye out.

Swimming dates are

Mon 11th, Tues 12th, Wed 13th, Thurs 14th November

Mon 18th, Tues 19th, Wed 20th  Thurs 21st November

and the preps will be swimming from 1.00pm -1.45pm.

If you have any questions in regards to protocol for swimming please feel free to come chat to me!

Curriculum day:

Monday the 4th of November will be a curriculum day! No school on Monday and Cup day on Tuesday, enjoy the long weekend!

This is all from me, I am so proud but sad that we only have eight weeks left together and I am dedicated to make these last few weeks the best yet!

1/2 PB and NP

Welcome back everyone!

We have jumped into term 4 ready to learn after finishing last term at the farm.

In literacy, we have been continuing with building our reading comprehension by investigating literal and inferred meaning in our reading. We continue to practise rhyming words each week. Students have also been exploring spelling patterns to improve on their spelling abilities. In writing, we have continued to write narratives and persuasive pieces. Students have been also been writing poems, we have started with acrostic and will move into senses poems.

In maths, we have been doing a lot of revision on topics from throughout the year. We continuously practise the four processes to make sure we aren’t forgetting those skills. We have revisited measuring and comparing the length and weight of objects and shapes. We have also revisited 2D and 3D shapes and their features.

In humanities, we have finally finished history for the year. Students did a marvelous job presenting their projects to the grade and should be very proud of themselves. We are now going to be moving into geography.

Below are some extra photos from the police visit!

We are looking forward for the exciting events coming up in the term!

All the best from the 1/2 team,

Phoebe, Nicole, Jeanette, Shannon, Jacqui and Carol
