Introducing Michael Kyrkou teaching Mathematics.

Why did you decide to become a teacher?

I have always loved Maths so I wanted to work in a job that used it. i kind of fell into teaching at the start and remained in the profession ever since!

How long have you been in the teaching game?

I have been teaching for 38 years. 

What was your last place of employment - school/university or another organisation?

I last worked at Koonung Secondary College.

What do you love most about teaching?

That AHA! moment when a student finally understands a concept.

What has been one of your best teaching moments?

Watching the children transform into young adults.

What would be 3 things that you would like your students to know about you?

1. I am married with 3 adult children.
2. I am a mad Richmond supporter. 
3. I love travel (especially cruising on ships).

Where is your favourite holiday destination?

My favourite holiday destination is Europe (Greece).

What TV show/series did you last binge watch?

I most recently binged JAG.

If you could wear Harry’s invisibility cloak for one day, where would you go and what would you do? That’s Harry Potter’s cloak not Harry Ruff’s cloak 😊

I would sneak into a Richmond coach's address to players and just listen.

What is the one piece of ‘advice’ or the one thing that you always say to your students?

Always try your best.  If you can look back on your efforts in anything you attempt, then you won't have any 'if only' moments.
