Introducing Ms Cettolin

Hi I’m Ms.Cettolin and I’m the new Vocal teacher here at Mullauna!  I’ll be working here on Thursdays.

I have been teaching singing in schools for many years. I have also worked with a number of gospel and community choirs. I love all kinds of music, but especially enjoy contemporary music - singing soul and gospel.

I have Italian heritage so in my life outside of school, in addition to singing and my family, I love food - and make a mean lasagna!

I’m really looking forward to meeting some new singers and getting to know everyone at Mullauna!

Why did you decide to become a teacher?

I love sharing my passion for singing and music with other vocalists. I had many great music teachers who really encouraged and shaped me as a person.

How long have you been in the teaching game?

Haha - well, if I said one of my most 'instrumental teaching' posts for a year long family leave replacement position was actually at Mullauna in 2004 that will give you an idea!

What was your last place of employment - school/university or another organisation?

I currently work at two other Government Secondary Schools with Brentwood Secondary College being my longest post of 8 years.

What do you love most about teaching?

I love the connection you get to make with young people and helping them to find their path and passions in life.

What has been one of your best teaching moments?

There are so many. It's often the little day to day moments of seeing the light bulb switch on!

What would be 3 things that you would like your students to

know about you?

  1. I love gospel and soul music.
  2. Singing in groups is one of my favourite things to do.
  3. I love Italian food and make a mean lasagna!

Where is your favourite holiday destination?

Anywhere with a beach is usually my go to relaxation holiday destination.

What TV show/series did you last binge watch?

Succession

If you could wear Harry’s invisibility cloak for one day, where would you go and what would you do? That’s Harry Potter’s cloak not Harry Ruff’s cloak 😊

I'd love to go to New York, slip into a rehearsal and sing along with the Harlem Gospel Choir.

What is the one piece of ‘advice’ or the one thing that you always say to your students?

Be true to yourself and don't compare your voice to someone else's. Make the most of your unique gift and skills.

Thank you, and welcome to Mullauna College, Ms Cettolin!
