National Theatre - Vanya

Mr Webb's Year 12 English Literature class enjoying a trip to Cinema Nova for the National Theatre's (NT) production of Vanya, a modern adaptation of Anton Chekov's 1896 play, 'Uncle Vanya'.

Andrew Scott was super impressive, playing every character in the play! He captured the full sweep of human life, seamlessly moving from one character to another to another to another!

Wicked the Musical

On Wednesday 20 March, Mr Bleakley’s VCE Theatre Studies class enjoyed “One short day in the Emerald City” when they went to see ‘Wicked’ at the Regent Theatre.

The show was amazing and led to a very robust discussion in class today, ahead of their analysis assessment task.

Year 12 Captains Report

The last few weeks of Term 1 have been busy for us all - a taste of the year to come. We’ve faced the first of our many SACs, broken in our swaggy Year 12 jumpers and are en route for a fantastic year.

The annual swimming carnival was a hit as always and the poolside was crowded with colourful costumes ranging from cheerleaders to Sesame Street characters and even a (not-so) life-sized T-Rex.

Our Age Group Champions were; April Ingwerson and Tom Carden Year 12, Luke Tull and  Ruby Davis Year 11.

Congratulations to Max Caulfield, Emily Geerling, Aruna Bown, Connor Nugent and Luca Van Der Westhuizen, the wonderfully talented VCEs in the cast and well done to all the new cast members of this year’s production ‘Curtain Calls and Chronicles’, which is on track to be a hit under the amazing production team this year.

We have absolutely loved seeing all the funky socks the Year 12s have been wearing every Friday, and just wanted to remind everyone that Funky Sock Friday is a chance for the cohort to raise money to put towards charity or Year 12 activities.

Captains will be going to homerooms each Friday to collect your gold coins, so don’t forget to bring them! Alternatively, students are free to bring in $10 at the start of each term to cover those donations to make it easier to remember.

We were pleasantly surprised on Wednesday 20 March, when the Year 9 Community Time students made lolly bags for all of the Year 12 students. They each had a little joke or uplifting message on them and it definitely brought a smile to everyone’s faces.

The end of term has snuck up on us so quickly and it’s crazy to think that we’re almost a third of the way through Year 12 already. We hope you all have a wonderfully relaxing break.

Year 12 Captains

VCE IPT

All VCE students have study periods together on Tuesdays Periods 5-6, Thursdays Periods 3-4 and Fridays Period 4.

The aim is to run all SACs, examinations, Year Level assemblies, guest speakers and other activities during this time to minimise class disruption.

If there are no relevant activities for your child on Tuesdays Periods 5-6, they are free to go home to study. However, students are more than welcome to stay at school and study.

IPT SAC Schedule

The IPT SAC schedule for Semester 1 has been posted on the Year 11 and 12 Google Classrooms. Students need to read these carefully to ensure there are no SAC clashes. If a student does have a SAC clash, they will need to visit the Senior School Office to complete a SAC clash form. This will provide them with an opportunity to reschedule one of the SACs

for the next available time slot in IPT.

The times for SACs are:

  • Tuesdays during IPT Periods 5 and 6
  • Thursdays during IPT Periods 3 and 4
  • Fridays during IPT Period 4 (one period SAC only)

Students will not be granted SAC redemption unless they have a medical certificate or it is a

school-approved absence.

If there are extenuating circumstances please let us know and we will make a decision based on the VCAA guidelines.

Absences on Compass

Any absences from school must be parent/carer approved – you can do this through a signed note or via the Parent Approval button on Compass.  You can also use Compass to view your student’s past absences.

If you are unable to log in to Compass OR are having trouble approving absences online, please email Jenny McLean, the Sub School Office Assistant who will be able to assist you.
