Student Leaders Corner
Meet your School Vice Captains!
Hi everyone! I’m Shivesh Prasad, one of your School Vice Captains. As Term 1 draws to a close, I wanted to take a moment to wish you all a restful break and to prepare for the challenges that lie ahead in Term 2.
Term 1 has been a remarkable journey for all of us as we settled back into the school year. Among the many memorable moments, Swimming Carnival stands out as a true highlight. I would like to congratulate Callistemon for their effort in achieving first place. To all the other Houses, please remember that there will be plenty of future opportunities to showcase your talents. It was truly inspiring to witness the vibrant display of team spirit as students and faculty proudly wore their House colours and cheered on their fellow peers.
As we move forward, one key focus that has emerged from our leadership meetings is the importance of school-wide participation in events and creating a strong sense of school spirit. We have exciting events such as the Athletics Carnival and Chorales on the horizon. Expect new ideas and initiatives aimed at promoting inclusivity and enhancing the overall enjoyment of these experiences through creative advertisements and engaging activities. My main goal for 2024 align alongside those of other leaders where I want to try to improve participation and create more fun events that increase our school’s harmonious spirit.
Building on the words of Zainab in the previous newsletter, the 2024 leadership team is here to support you throughout the year. We truly value your ideas, no matter how big or small, and we are committed to discussing and implementing them to make our school environment even more tailored towards your needs. Your feedback and suggestions are always welcomed and appreciated!
Let us make this year an unforgettable one, as we lay the foundation for enduring traditions in the years to come.

Hello, my name's Lujyin and I am one of your School Vice captains alongside Shivesh.
Term 1 has been a blast with all that we’ve done as a school. The Year 12s enjoyed a thrilling day at the Melbourne Cable Park, where we faced a variety of obstacles and like the resilient students we are, we successfully overcame them 💪🏻. The amazing new Year 7s spent a relaxing day in the sun at Lysterfield Lake Park, where they bonded with their new peers and teachers and developed a sense of House community. They also got to enjoy a nice sausage sizzle as they chat with their friends and even had a picnic held in the school piazza, which was a nice laid-back day, with plenty of games, free ice-cream and drinks!
The whole school got to enjoy the buzzing atmosphere at our annual Swimming Carnival where Callistemon, the best house, ended up winning (as expected). I would also like to congratulate Hakea and Banksia who came 2nd and 3rd for displaying incredible resilience despite Callistemon's evident upcoming win. It was very heart-warming seeing an incredibly large amount of our school show up and swim or relax in the warm weather. This was definitely an unforgettable experience! To those who couldn't attend, look out for our upcoming Athletics Carnival and House Chorales events in Term 2, where you can showcase your athletic prowess and/or your Mariah Carey vocals. This is also a chance to beat last year's Chorales winner (Eucalyptus) and our Athletics winner (Banksia).
As this term comes to an end, I'm enthusiastic to see what the rest of the year has to offer and I wish you a restful and safe holiday!
