School Council Parent Nominee Statements and Ballot Information

As I shared with you earlier this week, in the Parent Category of the School Council, the number of nominees has exceeded the number of vacancies.  This afternoon and tomorrow the school will be distributing ballot papers and inviting Parent Electorate members of the Croydon Hills Primary School community to vote for candidates standing for election to the parent member category.

The ballot paper clearly articulates eligibility for the parent electorate and information on how to vote.  Parents and carers can view each nominee’s Personal Statements on Compass.

ANNOUNCEMENT - Kinders at Schools

Yesterday I shared with the school community that a new kindergarten will be built at our school.

This new centre will provide additional kindergarten places for the local community, while making drop-off time simpler and more convenient for some families.

We are working closely with the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA), who will oversee construction works. We expect the kinder to be completed and open Term 1, 2026.  The kinder will be operated by an external organisation with experience in running kinders. Once appointed, they will manage all enrolment, staffing and program enquiries.

We’re mindful of any impact construction might have on our community, and we’re working with the VSBA to minimise this.  The VSBA will create a dedicated webpage for the project so that you can track its progress and get updates.

I look forward to sharing further updates and the design of the building once they become available.

Communicating with the School Community in an Emergency

Our school has clear processes regarding our Emergency Management procedures. These include having a documented Emergency Management Plan, having accessible information on our EMP (see below), regularly practicing and reviewing our procedures, and communication of emergency management events.

At our school we communicate via Compass, and if necessary, via direct text message.

On  8 March our school will be executing a simulated EMP.  Our staff will appropriately prepare children prior to the rehearsal.  Families at home may wish to share with their children that it is a practice, just in case there was an emergency.
