Hands on Learning

Yep, I think we can all agree that Wednesday was a little warm, I can tell you though that our Hands on Learning crew never got hot under the collar. Such resilience is to be admired.
So, I new if the weather didn’t stop them, today’s project was going to be a breeze. What a breath of fresh air that turned out to be. In the beginning the crew were free to experience the tools we were going to use and seemed highly motivated to create something tangible, a toolbox. They learnt about economy through using materials that were destined for the dump and to think outside the box when it came to design. With a clear goal in mind, together, they succeeded. Cool huh!
On Wednesday the 28th of February Luca, Ashlee, Anika and I has Hands on Learning. First, we learnt how to use tools, then we went to the art room and started to make toolbox. To make the toolbox we used scrap pieces of wood and an old wooden cricket stump. It took us about and hour and 10 minutes, then we went back in the main building, and we made cheese and bacon burgers. After we finished lunch Luca and I did Tonny’s got talent, we could have won because all of the judges gave us a 10 but we didn’t sign up!

This week Hands on Learning was quite fun because we got to participate in many enjoyable activities such as building, cooking and learning new skills that we have never tries before. That’s one of the many things that I love about Hands on, being able to try new things.
Our main aspect of this week was us creating a project and we decided to make toolboxes out of completely recycled wood and a cricket post as the handle. We made one toolbox between two and hopefully the people for next Hands on Learning can use them as well.
We also made these absolutely amazing cheese and bacon burgers. This week we all participated in cooking the lunch and we made sure to share woth everyone and we always wait for everyone. While we were eating, we talked about our day. Overall, this week’s Hands on Learning was amazing and I can’t wait for next week.

On Wednesday we had Hands on Learning and yet again it was a hot day! Brett taught us to use drills and how to use a saw.
Then we were about to make a toolbox but It got too hot so we went to the multipurpose room. Then we started to make the toolboxes but then a class came in and it must have been hard to listen with a tge noise we made. First we measured the wood the new made hols for screws next we drilled it in.
Then we finished, for lunch we had burgers with bacon and eggs with tomato sauce and it was yummy. Then after we clean ed up our mess that’s when we finished the day.
