Swimming
The weather put on a show for our annual swimming week at school. Students showed that they were fantastic ambassadors of our school when walking to and from to the pool respectfully, responsibly and with a ton of resilience displayed. The grade 6 students enjoyed being a support to their buddies and showing them how swimming week works.
The highlight of the week was the House Swimming Sports.
Reading
This week our reading focus has been on making connections. Students have been reading a variety of texts to make connections to self, other texts and to the world. Students have made the observation that making connections to self is often the easier connection to make. We have used different graphic organisers to represent thinking - this week learning about the FISHBONE organiser.
Writing
This week students have moved onto writing narratives. Narrative writing is a form of storytelling where the author narrates a sequence of events or experiences, often employing elements like characters, setting, plot, conflict, and resolution to engage the reader. Students were given a picture to help create a central idea theme, they used a graphic oraganiser to plot down their idea before writing their narratives.
Have a great weekend! From the 5/6 Team
