Artefact Visit from Uncle Wayne
What a fun filled week for grade 3/4 students. We were lucky enough to have Uncle Wayne visit with some Indigenous artefacts. He was impressed at how knowledgeable our students were with the history of our country. This visit is beneficial for our upcoming Inquiry project where students will be creating their own artefacts.
Excursion to Nathalia Heritage & Education Centre
Students also had the opportunity to visit the Nathalia Heritage and Education Centre this week. We discovered how the floods affected the Indigenous people, how the Barmah forest has changed over time and how European settlers introduced cattle & developed farms along the Murray River. Students will use this information during their writing sessions to create diary entries as a convict, European settler or Indigenous person.
Reminder for next week...
There is a pupil free day next Monday 4th of March.
This coming Tuesday, students are required to bring an interesting, humorous, or memorable family story that may include a moral or message. They will be participating in a mock campfire where stories will be told as a way to simulate the First Peoples tradition of storytelling. Each student will share a story with the rest of the class.
